After the success of the previous collar design last week Julinka was really into the idea of making another that was a bit more children wear focused, as this was something she felt that we were lacking slightly in the collection and knew that we had some children’s wear appointments coming up in the near future.
We went looking through some of the samples that she had in the studio and we found an embroidered vintage bird. We centred this next design around this and created a scalloped collar that had two embroidered birds on the edges.

We adapted the bird slightly so that it came across a little friendlier because it was going to be for children’s wear.
As well as this this week we started to work on adapting a vintage garment that Juilinka had found. We wanted to focus on some of the 70s themes that we had seen running through the catwalk. So we decided to cut out the panels on the garment and replace with a new design.
I drew up a floral motif that I thought would work well and then together we coloured up the design and decided to over dye the garment to a deep blue.

I was really loving getting to design this much and tap back into my drawings. I felt very at home with this side of the internship and always felt inspired and excited by what I was doing and I loved that Julinka trusted me with this and was starting to give me a little more free reign along with some helpful guidance.
