This week we were starting to get ready to do a new batch of designs that we could send off before the Christmas break so that we would have new swatches to add to collection in the new year ready to sell. To help with this Julinka asked me to have a look back into some of the looks from the most recent shows and see if there were any specific trends that were sticking out to me. From these she asked me to make some mood boards that we could use for inspiration going forward.
I was seeing a very clear throw back to iconic 70s trends that were starting to take shape on the catwalk with a new modern twist. There was definitely a specific colour palette coming through in a lot of shows where mustard yellow was the main contender. I was also seeing a lot of hand techniques that were coming bak into play like macrame, crochet etc. I pulled together some imagery from these and made some mood boards we could look to for inspiration.

After talking with Julinka and discussing the mood bards she suggested we animated them, turned them into gifs and then used them for the focal point of the new newsletter.

As well as all of this we were starting to get a lot of imagery back from the artillers in India as they were very close to finishing off the last pack of designs that we had sent out to them to make. This was really exciting to see the designs that we’d worked on coming to life and people working on them. It was also really interesting to see the techniques that they were using on the designs to make them happen. For example, they work on a base cloth and use a special technique where they work on both sides of the fabric so that they can secure the beads quickly to the fabric.
