Something that we really focused in on in my third week here was getting inspiration from the shows that were taking place. At this point in my internship all of the fashion weeks were taking place, so it was very important to keep up to date with these so that we could analyse the trends that were starting to emerge so that that could be kept in mind for the upcoming designs that would be done in house for the next additions to the collection.
I spent a lot of time this week going through the shows and selectively picking out images that had a lot of embellishment in them. At the start I found that because my background was in print I was drawn to a lot of amazing prints that had been seen on the catwalk, so I really had to train my mind to only really think of the embellishment side of things and only select print where it was appropriate and could be translated into embroidery or embellishment.
There were definitely some amazing pieces that were shown throughout the shows and I thought this was good experience for me because previously I had never been overly involved in new upcoming fashion trends as I had never been sure whether fashion specifically was the route in which I wanted to take my textiles career, but seeing all of the inspiring pieces that were coming down the catwalk gave me a new found passion for the area.
