Coco Bloom Week 7

This week it turned out that Lisa was quite ill and she suggested that I stayed at home instead of coming into the studio so that I didn’t catch anything off of her.

I continued working on my Ukrainian Folk ditsy piece and also putting together some other prints with a similar feel to them. It was nice to be purely focusing on designing and drawing. It was also good to be having a go at digital prints rather than hand-printing techniques.

I also got spend some time really learning how to put my prints into repeat. This was so so handy and a skill that Lisa was very keen for me to get to grips with as it is so so so crucial in industry. Now knowing this I was a little shocked why we hadn’t really been taught these things before at uni when in the print specialism. This was just another thing that made me so grateful that I had taken this time out for this year as I now know which skills I need to work on with my remaining time at uni to make myself come across as employable and desirable within industry.

By the end of the week I had 3 designs put together with the Ukrainian folk influence, two of which I had put into repeat. Now I was really starting to feel I was getting to grips with the repeats and patterns etc.
